Nella vita prima o poi ...

tutti noi siamo costretti a crescere, a istruirci, a modificare il nostro carattere, a conoscere gli altri, a cercare di essere nel limite del possibile coerenti con le nostre idee sia con noi stessi e sia con il prossimo e succede anche che siamo obbligati a modificare le nostre attitudini. Da giovane residente nel profondo Sud ero soprannominato il delfino del Basso Adriatico, poi ho dovuto migrare nel profondo Nord e sono stato costretto a riconvertirmi e sono diventato "Lo scoiattolo del Lago Maggiore".

Probably few of you already know that at the end of this month I will leave the Alcatel Company.

During our live we are forced to make decisions, which often happens during our time at work. There we spend most time in our life. Sometimes the decisions are easy made, sometimes difficult. Taking your family and yourself into account you will be able to decide in the right way.

I believe to be right when I say that my generation and I did our best to solve our company´s problems with responsability and sensibility. This of course gives me pride and satisfaction to go on like this in my private life.
Having said this I inform you that 37years have passed, 27 in FACE/ALCATEL.

During all those years I received great friendship and cordiality, which showes that I did a good job and that my relationship with all of you was mostly correct.
I would like to thank all collegues who had contact with me during these 27 years, my best !!.
I am greatful to those. . .
. . . who gave me the opportunity to be motivated although it was impossible ....
. . . who forced me to implement rubbish jobs; still I carried them out knowing that in any case somebody had to do them....
. . . who gave me the opportunity to get training in order to improve my professional level ...
. . . who gave me the possibility to have relationships with collegues of other European Countries so I could feel being a European citizen...
. . . who, in 1980, made me feel happy to become employed in a big Company, even if ....
. . . who always gave me answers every time I needed help, even if many times the answers were not exhaustive enough.... and many times not-at-all ...
. . . who, with their politeness and friendship, have allowed me to solve the company´s problems without involving the management ... otherwise the response-time certainly would have been very long ....
. . . who have worked with me in several teams .... (famous my interview to Support Group, never published) ...
. . . who had me correct behaviour during the worktime and during normal social time ....
. . . who had confidence in my capability ....
And I also thank those of you who are not listed here. I thank everybody who has contributed in any way to my maturity and to what I am today.
To all of you who remain in the Company I whish a good continuation today and tomorrow hoping that in the next future the situation will be better than it is right now.
I will use the Alcatel Intranet to inform you of my departure, and I would be grateful if you could send my regards to all who know me.
We make room to young people hoping that they will dedicate themselves to the Company as we did in the past (also because I still have some Alcatel stocks !!!)

ho letto con grande piacere e commozione la tua lettera di commiato su Alcanet. Devo dire che mi e' piaciuta molto.
Tra noi, uomini del Sud, c'e' un feeling particolare. Vedi anche io nel 1980 venni a lavorare a Milano (precisamente a Sesto San Giovanni). Ti confesso che quello fu per me un periodo brutto, perche' non riuscivo ad ambientarmi e non riuscivo a stare lontano da Napoli. Fui fortunato perche' riuscii a tornare al Sud facendomi assumere alla Face a Salerno.
Sara' per questo ma tu sei stato sempre uno dei miei migliori amici tra tutti i colleghi di Milano. No non e' per questo o perlomeno non e' solo per questo : pochi sanno coniugare il difficile binomio collega/amico e tu ci sei riuscito perfettamente.

Sorry for the late reply, but your mail got in the queue.
I have to say that my first reaction was one of disappointment. I had expected much more proposals and also some of them with a 'shocking' creativity. What we got was limited and to a certain extend predictable.
It showed to me that there seems still to be very little interest in DC Italy to do things in a better and more efficient way, and I have to admit that this disappointed me a lot.
For the rest ... working in Italy has been fun!
